Move-A-Thon: 2012

 The Event

The event takes place Friday October 5th from 12:00 - 2:45 at McDonald International Playground.

Students will participate in three different heats:

12:00 - 12:45 Kindergarten
1:00 - 1:45  First Grade
2:00 - 2:45  Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades

Dress appropriately for the weather; we will be walking rain or shine.

Parents - come support your kids while they walk! Or sign up to volunteer here.

Move-A-Thon Process:

Students will ask people to be “Sponsors.” Sponsorship can be a single, flat donation or a donation per lap completed. Your child will come home on the 5th with the number of laps he/she completed at the Move-a-Thon so you can calculate what your per-lap sponsors owe.

Sponsors may be friends, family, neighbors, and parents’ co-workers or business associates.

Funds Raised Benefit ALL Students

The money we raise goes to the PTA General Fund for this year and pays for

  • literacy tutors for the students who need it most
  • Classroom mini-grants to fund supplies and teaching aids our teachers need
  • field trips,
  • the arts, music and math programs
  • and more

Fundraising Goal

Our goal is to raise $60,000, which would pay for everything the PTA sponsors this year aside from the IA Fund which is a separate endeavor.

That comes to $250 per child - on average. But not every child will be able to raise $250, so if yours does, keep going!

We need to push that average up past $250 to meet our goal.

Help your child find sponsors!

  • Email friends and family - tell them about our event and ask for their support!
  • Visit Neighbors who know and love your children - always accompany your children.
  • Ask your employer if they will be willing to match donations collected by your child or your child’s class.

DEADLINE FOR SPONSORS: October 12, 2012

Collecting the Money

Please collect cash (no loose change, please), checks made out to “McDonald Elementary PTA" or sponsors can donate online gifts at mcdonaldpta.org/move.

100% of the donations will benefit McDonalds’ students and are tax deductible!

Turn in the envelope with your child's funds by October 12th, one week from the event.

For those of you who need extra pledge forms or donations receipt forms, please see the attachments to the right (coming soon).

If you cannot participate on the day of the Move-a-Thon, please send their funds raised to school earlier. Only students whose money is turned in on time will be eligible for prizes.

Prizes

At a special assembly the following week, Scotty Dog Trophies will be awarded to

  • the class that raises the greatest # of pledges

And prizes will be awarded to

  • the individual that collects the greatest # of pledges
  • the individual that completes the most laps per grade

Gift Matching

If any of your child's sponsors work at Microsoft, Boeing, or Starbucks - be sure to include this on your child's form - their employer will match your gift.
