Registering for Kindergarten
Do you need to enroll your child for school? For enrollment information, check out the district’s website.
Pay for Kindergarten
All kindergarteners in a language immersion program, like at McDonald, must attend full day kindergarten and accept full day kindergarten fees.
The fee for full day kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year is $272/month for 10 months. Payment is due the first of each month starting September 1st through June.
Payment can be mailed to: Full Day Kindergarten, Seattle School District, Mail Stop 33-343, PO Box 34165, Seattle, WA 98124-1165, or you can sign up to have your monthly payments automatically deducted from your bank account. Click on this link to sign up for this program.
How does the immersion language placement process work?
John Stanford International School, down the street from us, has fine tuned this over the years so McDonald will be in lock step with them in both timing and process.
Students with language skills equal to native speaking proficiency get automatic placement into that language. If parents are native speaker fluency but the student is not, the student does not get special preference. Students with an older sibling at John Stanford will be given sibling preference for the language their sibling is in. In future years, students with an older sibling in Spanish or Japanese at McDonald will get sibling preference to be in the same language. Twins are also kept in same language if the family desires. These are the only groups who receive preference.
You can read more about Language Immersion at McDonald Elementary here.
For information on how kids will be placed in a language, download our Official Language Selection Process document under the Scottie dog on this page.
Get involved now with the PTA!
As a small, newly established school, McDonald relies on parents to be active participants in their child's education. Get your feet wet by volunteering this spring and/or summer: We are developing a committee to tackle fundraising for Instructional Assistants for our new immersion program. No previous fundraising experience needed--we are all learning together how to get things done for our kids. If you want IAs in the classroom this fall, we need your help! Downloard the Prospective Parent Info Sheet under the Scottie dog on this page to learn about additional ways to get involved. Email today to find out more.
