Welcome to the McDonald School Garden! (est. 2017)

Moved from its original location on the southwest corner of school to the south side of the gym, our school garden expanded in size and impact at McDonald International School with the support of parents and teachers volunteering their time and energy. Funded by awards granted to our Green Team for all of their hard work, we now have 10 large stock tank raised garden beds available each year for teachers to use within class lessons. From the science of plant growth to culinary adventures in the classroom, we invite you to watch our garden grow.

For ideas to use at home from enjoying the process of growing seeds with kids or for building your own raised garden beds check out the following links:

*NOTE* When we created our garden at school we also added screens between layers: bottom of tank layed screen, then added drainage rock, then another layer of screen, then filled nearly full with garden soil mix, and topped with Cedar Grove Compost for the top two inches.
